SATURDAY: AUGUST 4TH, 2007 JUMP FEST 2007 AT PUNCH BOWL FALLS WAS CANCELED!! Jump Fest 2007 was cancelled due to unexpected liability concerns. We were contacted by the property owners on Thursday, August 2nd and were asked to cancel for liability issues. We didn’t want to take the chance of getting sued and neither did the property owners. Even though the event was cancelled, AAW showed up at the gates to explain to everyone what was going on. With that said, here is the real story of Jump Fest. It all started in 2004. This is when AAW decided to pick a date and time to invite cliff jumpers all over the world to a cliff jumping celebration! Our intentions were to hold an event like no other. The pros do it all the time. They do it in a park over a pool or bring in a platform. You go to watch them, not participate! AAW is all about the cliff jumper. Come on, we do the same thing as they do, just not as fancy. AAW created Jump Fest for the sole purpose of bringing cliff jumpers from around the world to do what they love to do. We spoke with the local fire department and understand they pull out 2-3 jumpers from this jump spot every year due to accidents/injuries. We understand now that in order to have another Jump Fest we will need to get the proper permits, insurance, and EMT to stand by just in case. We believe Jump Fest can be bigger and better with all these things set in place.
